Starting the move to "X"

This is the first entry for "Zack Attacks the X".    It will be a fun-personal blog that I, Nick Davaul, his father will keep to document and record Zack's progress as he starts his journey of improving his fitness, physique, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

After looking at a few gyms around our area, we decided on going to Planet Fitness.   While probably the farthest gym from our home, we chose it because of the price.    Long story short.....   Everywhere else it was going to cost around ~$75-$85 per month for the both of us to attend the other gyms.    Planet Fitness's price with tax is $25 per month.     And for it just to be so that Zachary can work out in a gym, and I act as his personal trainer...   It was a no-brainer.      Plus, being about a 5-minute drive from my work, if my company ever has us return back to work, I can use the same gym.   Only drawback is that Planet Fitness is 90% machines and cardio (maybe 95%) and 5-10% free weights.   No bench press, no squat rack...

However, as Zachary increases his experience around a weight room, or would like to incorporate more bench/squat exercises, we will look at moving to a more suitable gym.  But for now, we're going to give PF a go.

I currently have a Beachbody-on-demand subscription.   It's great! I love it.  I get to work out at home (AKA: Air conditioning).    I have a full dumbbell set from 5lbs - 40lbs.     I thought that Zack would like to do the same, and he did for a week or so.  But he wanted to go to the "gym".     So Planet Fitness, here we come.

As for the program, we're are going to be a program that I purchased several years ago.   There was a guy on Youtube that had the exact physique that I wanted.   His videos were very informative, easy to understand, and as he explained what to do and why he would add the science behind it.    At the time I was looking for a program that I could follow that didn't require a full-size gym of equipment.

So I purchased Athlean X: AX-1.   So that is what we're going to do.   As Zachary isn't (right now) in agility, weight loss, etc...  we're going to focus on the weight portion of the program.   Working a 3day/week workout program, and with me as his "personal trainer", I will be able to help push him to see some (hopefully) major gains over the next 12 weeks.

I'll be recording weights/reps, as well as taking weekly "progress" pictures so that Zack "sees" where he started "A" to where he is now "X".   I hope Zack's moving to "X" is an amazing journey. One that I am 1000x grateful to be a part of.

On a personal note, I'm also selfishly using this as a way of having bonding time with my son.   Secondarily, it's to get my butt out of the seat and get myself back into shape.
